My personal journey of motherhood has been the core treasure and passion of my life over the past 36 years. I have been blessed with four beautiful children. My son is 36 years old and married. They have three gorgeous children. My daughters are 33, 29 and 25 years old. I delivered all my children at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. All four of my births were unmedicated, vaginal births. As a result, birth is a journey that I can easily recall, and I draw upon the sensations involved in this truly miraculous process. I remember the excitement and anticipation of welcoming each of my children into the world, and I would like to share that first-hand experience with you.
Through my work as a birth doula, I hope to bring comfort and compassion to young mothers as they welcome their babies into the world. As a seasoned parent, I am calm by nature and consider myself to be a very compassionate, loving, and supportive person.
I welcome the opportunity to meet with you and discuss what I might be able to contribute to this very special time in your life and the life of your family. This may be your first birthing experience, and gentle coaching might calm some nerves. Or this might be a second or third birth, and you might be interested in exploring a different experience, with a calming coach at your side.
I am a certified birth doula through DONA International. My doula journey began in December of 2010, when I completed the DONA International Approved Birth Doula Training Program.
In addition to my birth doula journey, I’d like to share a little bit about myself with you. The last 24 years have been spent devoting time to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in a volunteer role to support my two children with Type 1 Diabetes. Our family helped create and run the largest family Walk to Cure Diabetes team in the country for 10 years. I have volunteered in my community, in the schools and on the School Board. In addition, I have been involved in a town advocacy group as a co-chair. These efforts resulted in the building of a state-of-the-art high school. I am truly passionate about children and education.
